Who Should Win America's Favorite Player?

So.

Talk about a shit-show. #BB19 had so much promise. But, Production decided to fuck it all up. They brought back Paul.

I can't say enough that mixing vets with newbies never works. Even if there's only one vet, the playing field becomes terribly uneven. Executive Producer Allison Grodner was asked before the season began about the criticism of bringing a vet back. And she said one returning player shouldn't matter.

Grodner's comments in a Hollywood Reporter Interview

Yikes. Talk about words coming back to haunt you.

Paul single handily managed to round up all the house guests into doing his bidding. His 'celebrity' of having played before was enough to make them be starstruck.

Production decided to tempt the house guests with special powers this season. The HGs would receive a power by public vote. The first power was safety for three weeks. Now, who do you think people are going to vote for first? Most people watching are going to vote for a player they KNOW. And of course, Paul did indeed win and was safe for three weeks. Just enough time to cement himself as someone who the HGs would trust and want to keep around.

But. There was one house guest who didn't buy what Paul was selling. One house guest who saw how dangerous Paul was. One house guest who knew if Paul wasn't evicted first thing, the game was over.

Who was that newbie?

CODY.

Of course, when Cody attempted to back-door Paul, he couldn't, because Paul was safe.

While Cody managed to win the battle back and a new competition to garner saftey, the fact was that most of the HGs were under Paul's spell, so, Cody was unable to get Paul out.

But, he tried. And for that, I will be voting him for AMERICA'S FAVORITE PLAYER.

The AFP vote, typically called "America's Favorite Player"

Cody deserves the AFP win because he was the only newbie this season that did not do Paul's bidding.

Yes, Jessica eventually was on Cody's side and a few others have expressed Anti-Paul ideology. But, that was all talk. Cody was the only one the entire game who saw from the start that even one vet is bad news. He is the only newbie who played for himself. Everyone else just fell in line and did whatever Paul wanted them to do.

Every season there are rumblings that it's “the worst season ever.” But you know what? I think this season takes the cake. It is up there. It's been pretty bad.

The game of big brother stays exciting when the power shifts. And while it DID shift a few times, Paul largely stayed in control and he certainly became the king of the castle when Cody was evicted the second time.

It looks as though Paul might win this season. And he should. He's playing with a bunch of per-mature sheep who can't even stand on their own legs.

If I have to accept Paul winning the entire game, my one hope left of the season being saved is if Cody won AFP.

If Cody were to win AFP, it would serve as a gigantic upset for Paul and all the house guests  who decided to gang up on Cody and question if he really had a daughter, question his military service, and attempt to rile Cody up enough to be violent and be expelled.

Cody made a few comments in the first week that a select few viewers are still shouting about. But, let's get one thing straight here: Every HG this season has said at least one “horrible” thing. The things Cody said were done so out of ignorance, not hate, and that should be taken into account.

After all is said and done, I am looking at this strictly from a gameplay perspective. Cody was the only player this season who provided the opposition to Paul. The only newbie who didn't turn to mush and do whatever they were told. Without Cody, the few good weeks we had wouldn't have happened. And once Cody left for good, the season became THE PAUL SHOW.

And I don't enjoy reruns.

More like Paul Blister.
