Mouse Clicked into Oblivion.

In 2013, America sat on their couches and tuned to CBS and watched BIG BROTHER 15.

BB15 went down in history for all the wrong reasons.

Several of the house guests proved to be racist, sexist, misogynistic... and while I am reluctant to label people as such, there was a select group of house guests that made nasty comments consistently.

For story purposes though, the house guest that got the front of the blame was Aryan Gries, a twenty-two year old from Texas.

She was evicted and greeted with boos and when host Julie Chen interviewed her, the girl was blindsided with a bulk of her comments she had made read back to her. “I don't remember saying those things,” she said.

And now, in 2016, we're witnessing the first online-only Big Brother, dubbed OTT for “Over the Top.”

In only its third week, controversy has spread like wildfire online, because, well...

Monte Massongill is 25 and from Mississippi.

Clearly cast for this season's eye candy, Monte brought the drama. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, he got drunk with power, but, he also made some comments that were questionable.

I'm not going to print them here. You can find them if you look.

During BB15, I had my pitchfork ready and wanted Aaryn and the others evicted.

But, time has passed and I realized... Big Brother is an experiment. We are the spectators, meant to watch and only watch.

Of course, OTT has given the viewer an absurd amount of power and Monte was evicted because of it.

All the Powers the public has.

I feel the public overreacted to his comments. While what Monte said was in very poor taste, I believe the man is ignorant and has a lot of growing up to do. I do not think he is this vile, hate monger that people painted him as.

We also saw a few house guests toy with Monte and really overplay his comments against him. I think that is really dirty game play. And you know it's game play when said HG is snuggling with her lover and she kisses him and says, “That worked perfectly.”

I got a lot of flack “supporting” Monte. Many people tweeted, “You're supporting a racist?” Or a lot worse.

I “supported” the conflict Monte brought. Removing his comments, he was hilariously drunk with power and thought he understood the game when he really didn't.

Monte was "the silly villain" causing all the conflict, but unfortunately, the term 'racist' was said and America ran with it.

Again, I understand the anger, I just feel that many forgot that the whole point of the show is to see people fight and disagree. Monte's comments were icky, but they were not disgustingly evil or lend you to think he'd attack a gay man and tie him to a fence and beat him to death.

Those are the kind of people you need to get upset over, not some hunk on a reality show.

Monte aside, the fact that the public has so much power is the reason I decided to stop watching BBOTT.

We hadn't seen this great of game play in quite awhile, but America was hellbent on supporting Jason Roy, a Vet, and his side of the house. For two straight weeks, the side of the house apposing Jason saw their plan go down in flames.

The argument I see a lot is “Well, they could have won the vetos!” Okay, yes. That is true. But, I think there's something to knowing America does or doesn't like you. It can't possibly be good for morale.

I am not saying not to watch. I'm just saying, for me, I felt the game was being ruined and tarnished by the public. I think it would have been much more fun to see the HG's go it alone and see Jason and his side take out “the plastics” one by one, unassisted.

Jason Roy, a player who has played before and typically stays on the backyard couch and smokes.

What ended up happening is I was hoping to use OTT as a distraction from the USA Election. And what happened instead was I found myself  arguing with people on  how to vote to keep the drama--- and it was just too stressful.

My hope is that if there is a second OTT, there is no Vet and that America has no power over nominations or evictions.

BIG BROTHER needs power shifts to truly be entertaining and the way OTT is set up right now, it does not allow for that.
