In 2013, America sat on their couches and tuned to CBS and watched BIG BROTHER 15. BB15 went down in history for all the wrong reasons. Several of the house guests proved to be racist, sexist, misogynistic... and while I am reluctant to label people as such, there was a select group of house guests that made nasty comments consistently. For story purposes though, the house guest that got the front of the blame was Aryan Gries, a twenty-two year old from Texas. Aaryn, in her headshot for the show. She was evicted and greeted with boos and when host Julie Chen interviewed her, the girl was blindsided with a bulk of her comments she had made read back to her. “I don't remember saying those things,” she said. And now, in 2016, we're witnessing the first online-only Big Brother, dubbed OTT for “Over the Top.” In only its third week, controversy has spread like wildfire online, because, well... Monte Massongill is 25 and from Mississippi. Monte...

It's time for AMERICA'S VOTE!

Well, here we are: Week 2 of #bbott is beginning. Last evening, an HG was evicted and a new HG was crowned HOH. (Literally.) Alex, moments before she became the new HOH.  So, BBOTT has been a fascinating experience. For the first time, viewers got to watch the HG's move in, live. And, also for the first time, we got to see DR sessions, live. They weren't entirely an “actual DR”, but we did get insight into each HG, unfiltered, which is something fans have wanted ever since the CBS Edit began using heavily scripted DR sessions in the episodes. Neeley, one of the HG's, in her live DR session. The other side of BBOTT has been difficult for me to digest.  America has tremendous influence this season. We're voting a third nominee, we're placing an eviction vote, we are voting on have-nots every week, we're sending one HG a "care package" every week until week 8 and lastly, we are voting on the winner. All the power ...

Big Brother: Over The Top (Where Have You Been All My Life?)

Image
When Big Brother 18 began, there were rumblings of an “online only” Big Brother show. Fans scoffed. The idea was nice, but there was no way that producers would do two shows back-to-back. The only evidence was a “casting call” that was posted on Twitter. It's one shred of credibility was that it had been posted by a former HG. A month or so later, we learned that yes, an online only Big Brother was coming and it would air shortly after BB18. BB: Over The Top began a few days ago and has so much potential and has largely been a magnificent entity to experience. "Over the Top" is a phrase for "information collected and transmitted via the internet."  The first thing, and perhaps it's most important difference from the television show is the fact that the 'live feeds', as the're called, turned on right when the HG's moved in. (Hello Run on!) Live feeds are available for the television version, but their first ni...

Big Brother: Beauty Marks, Vile Pigs and Heart Murmurs.

Hello, readers. Well, here we are, almost Week 4. We've had two evictions, about to have another. My, what a ride this has been. We lost Jace, which was a real loss. Even if you didn't like him, he brought a lot of excitement to the house. After Jace, we lost Day. (Da'vonne.) You talk about tragedy. This girl was the epitome of fantastic entertainment, but a horrible game player. She even won a magic power that was supposed to help her, but it didn't, because Producers still don't know what the hell they're doing. (When it comes to Twists.) Yeah, let's give a power to void three votes when the House is working as a majority. ( Shakes Head.) This week, we saw Vanessa become HOH. She loves to talk a mile a minute, exhausting whomever is within ear shot. I foresee a segment on the CBS show of Vanessa droning on and on as someone listens to her, accompanied by “The Silly Circus Music.” I have seen a slight improvemen...

Live Feeds, Night One: Crying, Shoutouts and Nails.

Image
The feeds went live last night. (the 25th.)  And oh boy... was it ever a doozy. Here's a quick recap of what went on: Jace is on a power trip. Major Power Trip. He had gotten the HG's to all sit in the living room to introduce themselves to us live feeders and... SHOUT OUT to family members! Ugh. This was a really lame start to the feeds. The HG's seemed to love getting attention for their brief “Hi Mom!” moment, though. This little 'false start' caused someone to lose their shit. Vanessa. The poor girl was crying almost the entire night. She was crying to the point she couldn't get her words out. The situation was hard to follow, but she appeared to be missing her girl friend and had overheard people badmouthing Steve. She just didn't think this was for her. The one comforting her? Steve. Mister “social outcast.” He was the one offering kind words before anyone else did. Elsewhere, Jace's power trip continued while h...

The Big Brother 17 Cast

Image
Hello there. I'm BigBro411 and welcome to the first official entry to “Big Brother Thoughts”, a blog where I'll be sharing my opinions on the current season. I have a personal blog and I had written about BB there occasionally. I felt it best not to annoy readers that were not Big Brother fans, so I felt I'd make the move to here. A little about me. I've been watching Big Brother faithfully since Season 8. I had seen bits and pieces of Big Brother 1 and 2, but I was still young that I didn't really grasp it. I am a feed watcher, and I do post screencaps and some videos (shh) various places. I aspire to write for television. So, blogging about television just feels right. Okay. So, let's get to it. The House Guests were unveiled on June 16th. We watched in awe as Big Jeff interviewed (to the best of his ability) and we met each HG for about 6 minutes each. Throughout the next few days, more interviews popped up, giving us the ever sma...
