Who Should Win America's Favorite Player?

Image
So. Talk about a shit-show. #BB19 had so much promise. But, Production decided to fuck it all up. They brought back Paul. I can't say enough that mixing vets with newbies never works. Even if there's only one vet, the playing field becomes terribly uneven. Executive Producer Allison Grodner was asked before the season began about the criticism of bringing a vet back. And she said one returning player shouldn't matter. Grodner's comments in a Hollywood Reporter Interview Yikes. Talk about words coming back to haunt you. Paul single handily managed to round up all the house guests into doing his bidding. His 'celebrity' of having played before was enough to make them be starstruck. Production decided to tempt the house guests with special powers this season. The HGs would receive a power by public vote. The first power was safety for three weeks. Now, who do you think people are going to vote for first? Most people watching are goin...

Big Brother 19: Push-Pull-Paul

Image
We're a month into the latest Big Brother Season. Season 19. And let me tell you, this season has been a wild ride. We had a night one eviction, we had the first ever walk out, we had a serious injury-- and, we have a clear “good” and “evil.” Big Brother works best when there is an 'underdog' and a 'villain.' This isn't something we always get. While I did like this cast with my initial impressions, I didn't exactly see an underdog figure. I was unsure how it would go. The Producers had a few strings up their sleeves, though. We didn't have 16 newbies... we had 16 newbies and a VET (A previous player who is returning.) This did in fact leak before the season started. Most of us hoped it wasn't true. Paul, the 'Vet' of #bb19  As I said, this season, we have a 'good' and we have an 'evil.' Who's who? It might not be who you think. The Vet, as I refer to him, is the villain. Last season, ...

Big Brother 19: House Guest Impressions

Image
It's 119 degrees fahrenheit. I've been swimming in my pool--- it must be Summer! And with summer here, that also means it's time for another round of our favorite social experiment, Big Brother. House Guests were revealed on Monday, the 19 th , on CBS All-Access. They were again interviewed by Jeff Schroeder. Why CBS continues to employee him is beyond me, but, let's get to my initial impressions of the HG's, based on these interviews. By now, you know that I tend to fall hard for the male eye candy. It's sometimes an unhealthy obsession, but I like to think of it as a running gag over on my Twitter. So, let's talk about Mark first. At first glance, he is your typical meathead. But, upon listening to him, you will come to learn he's a lot more than his looks. Firstly, Mark lost over 100 pounds. So, he didn't start out looking like this. There is a hardship you have when you are heavier.  When he lost the weight and found he lo...

Celebrity Big Brother (Kind Of)

Image
It was Thursday evening. A fly began to buzz. “Fireworks!” it said. By Fly, I mean Fly on the Wall Productions, which is the company that produces Big Brother every summer on CBS. Fans around the world were suddenly woke, wondering what news would be dropping about the next season, “Big Brother 19.” News had been almost non-existent so everyone was ravenous. Then, a woman called Katy Perry tweeted out a video showing a bunch of monitors that displayed video feeds of a house. 8PM PDT❗️ https://t.co/tiEjd4ncWZ pic.twitter.com/CJXcCxADzn — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) June 8, 2017 “OMG!” went the Big Brother fanbase: What does it mean? Is she in the house? Is she going to be a cast member? Is she filming a music video for her new album? What? Later that evening, a live stream began on Perry's Youtube channel. The best detectives had looked for clues as to what this would be, but no one could find any information. And then, our adventure began. In a small ...

Mouse Clicked into Oblivion.

In 2013, America sat on their couches and tuned to CBS and watched BIG BROTHER 15. BB15 went down in history for all the wrong reasons. Several of the house guests proved to be racist, sexist, misogynistic... and while I am reluctant to label people as such, there was a select group of house guests that made nasty comments consistently. For story purposes though, the house guest that got the front of the blame was Aryan Gries, a twenty-two year old from Texas. Aaryn, in her headshot for the show. She was evicted and greeted with boos and when host Julie Chen interviewed her, the girl was blindsided with a bulk of her comments she had made read back to her. “I don't remember saying those things,” she said. And now, in 2016, we're witnessing the first online-only Big Brother, dubbed OTT for “Over the Top.” In only its third week, controversy has spread like wildfire online, because, well... Monte Massongill is 25 and from Mississippi. Monte...

It's time for AMERICA'S VOTE!

Image
Well, here we are: Week 2 of #bbott is beginning. Last evening, an HG was evicted and a new HG was crowned HOH. (Literally.) Alex, moments before she became the new HOH.  So, BBOTT has been a fascinating experience. For the first time, viewers got to watch the HG's move in, live. And, also for the first time, we got to see DR sessions, live. They weren't entirely an “actual DR”, but we did get insight into each HG, unfiltered, which is something fans have wanted ever since the CBS Edit began using heavily scripted DR sessions in the episodes. Neeley, one of the HG's, in her live DR session. The other side of BBOTT has been difficult for me to digest.  America has tremendous influence this season. We're voting a third nominee, we're placing an eviction vote, we are voting on have-nots every week, we're sending one HG a "care package" every week until week 8 and lastly, we are voting on the winner. All the power ...

Big Brother: Over The Top (Where Have You Been All My Life?)

Image
When Big Brother 18 began, there were rumblings of an “online only” Big Brother show. Fans scoffed. The idea was nice, but there was no way that producers would do two shows back-to-back. The only evidence was a “casting call” that was posted on Twitter. It's one shred of credibility was that it had been posted by a former HG. A month or so later, we learned that yes, an online only Big Brother was coming and it would air shortly after BB18. BB: Over The Top began a few days ago and has so much potential and has largely been a magnificent entity to experience. "Over the Top" is a phrase for "information collected and transmitted via the internet."  The first thing, and perhaps it's most important difference from the television show is the fact that the 'live feeds', as the're called, turned on right when the HG's moved in. (Hello Run on!) Live feeds are available for the television version, but their first ni...
